Hi - I had the results of my 4th year MRI today. The specialist nurse said there is no evidence of recurrence of disease. However, the radiologist report said that there is inflammation, previously seen but not reported on. The nurse is taking this to a meeting with the consultant on Wednesday. I do have haemorrhoids and, since I had my gall bladder out, I pass solids about 6 times a day. The nurse thinks it's probably radiotherapy damage causing the inflammation, but my imagination is running wild. Has anyone else had similar, please? TIA.
Hi Puddy
Im nearly 12 months post treatment..just waiting for my mri and ct 12 month results..
I recently had an exploratory procedure and I have been diagnosed with diverticular disease..and radiation proctitis And good old hemorrhoids..all as a result of the treatment..
They are all managable though with diet changes so try not to worry .
Great news your 4 years post treatment and no reoccurrence .. stay strong and stay positive

Puddy,
I too am four years on, and I can only pass on what my onc told me, if it reassures you at all - he said it would be very unusual for the tumour to come back after four years clear. If they have seen inflammation with you previously it sounds like they are fully aware of things, and the nurse is being careful by mentioning to the consultant.
Please let us know how you get on on. Is the nurse going to contact you?

Yes Mrs Vanilla. She is going to phone me on Wednesday afternoon. She said not to worry, but we always do, don't we? Thank you for your reply - happy for you that you're doing well xx
Oh Puddy
The dreaded inflammation - and (in my own experience) it can amount to nothing, not that this helps you. But the radiotherapy can play havoc with everything in the region and I have problems with inflammation too. I am not, for one moment making light of what the radiologist said and I am relieved that they are investigating further. I hope that the consultant will be able to put your mind to rest, please do come back and let us know how you get on. I hope they can quell your imagination too, we all empathise.
Irene xx
Thank you Irene. I'll let you all know what happens on Wednesday. I'm so grateful for this forum.
