Hi All,

I’m absolutely wiped out — tired to the bone, achy everywhere, and moving at about half‑speed. I knew the fatigue would hit, but it still catches you off guard when it actually arrives.

My mum’s coming today to help me tidy up because I’ve got someone coming to service the boiler tomorrow, and honestly… I cannot believe the sheer amount of leaflets I’ve accumulated over the last few weeks. Every appointment seemed to come with another stack. I’m looking around thinking, “How many different ways can they tell me the same three things?” It’s ridiculous. I could probably insulate the house with them at this point.

But despite the exhaustion and the paper mountain, I’m glad I saw the treatment through. There’s a strange mix of relief and depletion happening at the same time, but underneath it all is a quiet sense of “I did it.”

I’ve also been invited to give feedback to the Patient Experience team, which I’m actually grateful for. If sharing what I’ve been through helps improve things — including maybe reducing the leaflet avalanche — then it’s worth doing.

For now, it’s rest, fluids, and letting my body catch up with everything it’s been through. I have raw skin, 2 painful BMs every morning within about 40 minutes to an hour of getting up, just enough time for the instillagel to start working and just enough time to mentally prepare myself to be able to do it.

Sending strength to anyone else in this phase — it’s rough, but we’re getting there.

  • Hello Becky,

Just to say a massive well done on getting through your treatment. I know you’ve had to deal with a lot of challenges but you are on the other side now.

These early days are exhausting and your side effects are at their worst but it honestly does get better. Just keep resting up and listening to your body.
Im sure the last thing you need is having your boiler serviced right now and it’s good that your mum is able to help with the tidying.

Also great that you’re going to be involved with giving patient feedback as I’m sure your experiences will be valuable to others.

Really wishing you well for a quick recovery and hoping you start to feel better soon.
Sending a big healing hug xx

  • Hi  ,

Huge congratulations on completing your treatment. The fatigue is a beast isn’t it?

It’s great that you’ve been given the opportunity to give some feedback too, hopefully they’ll take on board about the leaflet situation!!

Now’s the time to rest & begin your recovery, lots of rest is definitely the way forward.

Sending lots of healing thoughts your way.

  • Hello

A huge well done - the course of treatment can be a very rough road and honestly, one day you will look back and think, did I really go through that?  These early days are really really hard, but just keep telling yourself - the treatment is over, I will never have to face that again.

I think most of us never had a moment's thought about normal bodily functions that would give us a real feeling of satisfaction afterwards.  And gradually, that normal function looks and feels nothing like it used to.  That is without the fatigue and all the other associated issues that accompany treatment.  But you are definitely doing all the right things to aid your recovery, and please don't try to do too much too soon.

I am so glad your Mum was there to help you, and please, don't hold back on your patient feedback!

    Gentle hug

    Irene xx
