Hi all
Would anyone know which type of dressing are safe to use during treatment? The skin at the top of my legs is so sore and red and nothing I put on it helps the rubbing when walking and moving around. I am doe to see the nurse on Thursday for my skin changes but that is a long way of .
Thanks
Michelle
Hi Michelle F6eb802 ,
Personally I didn’t require any dressings during of after my treatment but I know there’s been discussions here before between members that have had the need for them so hopefully someone will see your post soon & be able to offer some advice.
If you’re in a lot of discomfort I wouldn’t wait until Thursday to see your nurse, I agree that’s a long way off if you’re sore, if you’ve a number for your nurse give them a ring if not I’d give your oncologist a call to see if they can advise on something you can use.
I hope you get something to ease the discomfort soon.
Nicola
Thanks for the reply. I am using flamigel rt and it’s not helping much at all. So along with that I feel like I’m on fire every time I go to the toilet. I think I will have to see the nurse Monday if she can for me in
That sounds painful! I didn’t have any issues with the skin at the top of my legs, so can’t answer specifically. But during my treatment if I needed to talk to the nurse on a day that wasn’t my regular weekly review day then I just asked the receptionist when I checked in and she would tell the nurse who would then see me after my treatment. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see her. So please ask on Monday and hopefully they will give you something helpful. I’d also recommend going commando and wearing a sarong or skirt if you’re just at home. I pretty much did that for my last week and the week after. Good luck! X
Hello Michelle F6eb802
My sores were open and very painful and I was given Flaminal Forte which I used alongside Polymem dressings. I applied a thick layer of the cream and stuck the dressing on top. But this is for open sores - until you get to see the nurse (and please don't wait until Thursday) boxer shorts and track suit bottoms, the looser the better.
We all know how hard this is. It honestly won't last for long.
Gentle hug
Irene xx
