I’m at the end of week two. For at least three of the last few nights I go to bed cold and achey. Usually, I have to wait a little bit before I can take some more Tylenol so I go to bed and then I wake up and I’m super achy and freezing I take the Tylenol I get back in bed and then it feels like I break a fever and I’m drenched in sweat. Tonight I decided to take my temperature and it was 99.8. They told me to reach out if it was 100.4. (Remember, I’m from the US). Anyone else experience something like this week two has by far been better than week one I’m looking forward to my weekend off! Grateful for all of you. I have Sent a note to my palliative care doctor.
Hello Ruben w us,
That sounds really rough, and definitely worth getting checked out by your doctor. Have you had your blood results this week? It sounds like possibly an infection of some sort. Please make sure you let everyone in your treatment team know what you’re experiencing.
In the uk we are given a number to call if we develop a temperature, an alert card. I’m no expert but it does sound like you need to be medically checked to be on the safe side. I’m sorry that you’re going through this and hope that all will be okay. Let us know how you get on. Xx
Hi Rubin w us
I got very cold and if memory serves me it was week 2, my temperature went below the cut off so I rang my emergency number that PEB24 mentioned, they went through loads of questions with me and didn't seem overly concerned, told me to ring back the next day if it was still under and it wasn't, after that each time it was under I just waited till the next day if that makes sense. No harm in mentioning things to your team even if its just to put your mind at rest. Xx
Hello Rubin w us
Here in the UK we are told to call if we have a temperature above 37.5°C (100.4°F) or higher. I did have one once and ended up at A&E on an antibiotic drip and fluids, it was just overnight and I think it may have been a mild urine infection (I had no symptoms apart from the temperature). The next time I had a temperature (but not above 37.5C) I did what what you did and had paracetamol and was fine. I am not advocating this as if your temperature is high as an infection is a real possibility and you should be checked out.
I also had the night sweats, which oddly, were a peculiar smell, not body odour but strange. I put it down to the chemo that I was having alongside.
You are right to be alert and I hope you hear back quickly from your doctor, let us know what he says.
Irene xx
Hi Rubin w us ,
I think you’ve done the right thing in contacting your Dr, it could be the beginning of an infection & if it is catching it early will make it much easier to treat & you'll hopefully be feeling better soon. On the other hand it may just be your body reacting to the treatment but it’s best to get these things checked out. Enjoy your weekend off treatment, I remember I felt like I was living for the weekends.
