I have seen the photos of my tumour from my sigmoidoscopy and it's an ugly looking thing.
Next week I have all the surgery to remove it, right down to a permanent ileostomy (I also have Crohn's Disease so they are removing a loto more than usual in order to find healthy tissue for stoma creation).
This might sound positively weird but I'm going to put the photos onto my phone. I figure there might be some times when I need to remember why I've had this surgery, and the sight of that ugly tumour might be just what I need.
Has anyone else ever done this?
Hello Jump Jump
I think that is a good idea, it may well help getting you through any difficult times you might have. I also have a photograph of my tumour, but as mine was submucosal there was only a smooth pink lump to see, in fact the specialist nurse who did the sigmoidoscopy said he didn't think it was a tumour (how wrong that turned out to be).
Best of luck next week, we are all rooting for you.
Irene xx
Hi Jump jump ,
Welcome to our little corner of the MacMillan Online Community although I’m sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. Is it’s wrong that I’m a little jealous that both you & Irene have had photographs of your tumours! Seriously though I really hope your surgery goes well & I agree with both you & Irene that the visual evidence of why this has all happened may well help in the future.
Wishing you well with your surgery, let us know how it goes.
Nicola
