So 9 days following my last radiotherapy treatment I no longer require the Flaminal gel that I was given on day 22 of treatment and started to use on day 24, I’m also able to dry myself normally with a towel and I can wipe with normal toilet tissue although I use Zeroveen as a cleaner as well and still use Aveeno for everywhere else.
So really amazed how quickly the outer skin has healed although my focus is now on the 12 week scan and I’m already starting to stress about that.

Very easy to say, but worrying in advance has no impact on the outcome and just makes life in the right now feel more stressful... I'm great at giving this kind of advice, not so great at following it! But it is true. I've been trying to tackle things this way during the past few months.
Sounds like you're healing is well under way :) so that's a huge positive. I should imagine now that you don't have the daily routine of hospital visits, there's more time to think, reflect and ponder. I think this will hit me hard too in the coming weeks. I guess keeping the mind occupied with other things is the way forward.

Hello TheMont
What Jenna said - she is right, we all know that but the scanxiety is real, we all know that too. And be prepared for the first scan not to be entirely clear either, the radiotherapy carries on working for a long time and sometimes it isn't until the six-month scan that you get the all-clear.
I will be keeping everything crossed that you don't have to wait until the six-month mark and that all will be good news.
And your recovery sounds amazing!

Hi TheMont , it’s great to hear that your healing is underway, isn’t it amazing how quickly your skin recovers once it begins healing?
As Irene has said those of us that are through treatment are all too familiar with the dreaded scanxiety! Fingers crossed you’ll have great results at that 12 week scan but it’s the 6 month scans that are the most important as the radiotherapy continues doing its thing for quite some time.
Great advice from Jenna to try & keep yourself occupied over the next few weeks, if you can’t quite manage physically then find something to occupy you mentally to help the time pass.
Wishing you well with your continued recovery.
Nicola
Yes Jenna (JenW), the daily routine although gruelling as it was with the 5am starts did give me some sort of focus that I’ve now lost.
Thanks Irene, (Irene75359) I’m already bracing for that 1st scan and now thinking that the 6 months one is the big one.
Hi Nicola (Nikki65), yes I can’t quite believe how fast it’s healed up there but although it may seem nonsensical I’m starting to think maybe they didn’t give me enough treatment but I know that doesn’t really make any sense.
Good advice though thanks all
