'Monthly' pain increases AC pain...

Just wondered if anyone else has/or had an increase in their AC pain during their period/time of the month? I've been experiencing this for quite a long time now, certainly months before my actual diagnosis when I couldn't link the two. I suppose there's increased swelling and sensitivity down there during that time, but my goodness, it feels almost incapacitating at times... I'm due within the next day or so and dreading it :( my monthly cycle has become a lot heavier and more painful in recent years already. I'm 44, so likely perimenopausal, but the pain in my back passage in the first few days each month is unbearable, on top of the usual cramps etc us women get xx

  • Hi  ,

I was 53 at diagnosis & had a mirena coil in situ which stopped my periods so I can’t really comment on the issue you’re experiencing but if it’s causing you this amount of pain & discomfort I would advise contacting your treating team to see if they could offer some insight into maybe alleviating these symptoms. In the short term they may even  be able to offer you something to halt your cycle for the time being. I hope you find some relief really soon & sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

  • Thanks Nicola... I hadn't thought of that, but perhaps that might be an option during treatment if I'm struggling. Definitely something to consider!

I wonder if I'm experiencing it this way due to the slight spread in the pelvic muscle they've told me about. Will raise it with the oncologist on Wednesday when I see her xx

  • Hello JenW

Sorry, by the time I was diagnosed I had already a hysterectomy and periods (for me, thankfully) were a thing of the past.  I would do as suggested and talk to your oncologist about it, hopefully they will be able to shed light on it and come up with a solution.  Good luck on Wednesday
