Hi everyone , happy Easter to you all

this time last year I was diagnosed with anal cancer , lymph nodes too .

I got through the treatment without pain relief but whinging and seeking reassurance from this amazing forum ..

my goal was to get to Cannes 2 months post treatment which I did and looked ahead to a new normal .. dilators were achieved , but nausea , a couple of trips to hospital put my recovery back a little ..

just when I thought things were manageable up pops the bleeding , the sore bum again and intestines cramping after a visit to the loo.my colorectal nurse has given this a label of proctitis , which is usual during treatment but can happen as a late side effect !!!

I’m trying to insert steroid cream up a sore bottom , using a hot water bottle to ease pain but wondering how long these flare ups last or has anyone heard of this before ?

To those starting treatment , post treatment and beyond , I wish you well on your journey and send love and peace to you all.

Chrissie xx

  • Hello Chrissie

I have proctitis, I am not sure when it happened but at about six or nine months they noticed a thickening at the tumour site and I had a sigmoidoscopy to check it out.  I saw a picture of my anal passage, all was well but they pointed out all the little red veins indicating proctitis.  It does flare every so often, less so since I had a stoma.

    The joys of after treatment!

Love and peace to you too, Chrissie xx
