Hi ,

Yesterday  I had my 3 month check with Oncologist and has given me the all clear ! I’m planning on going on a mini break abroad with my husband . I was wondering as I’ve been given the all clear but obviously still on surveillance can I get normal travel insurance now ?

Thankyou for the great support I was given during my treatment , it was so kind .

Best Wishes

  • Just wanted to say excellent news Sharon!! Such a relief.

Don't actually know anything about insurance but lots of people here celebrate with a trip away so hopefully someone will respond. I believe Macmillan might actually do, or know who does so perhaps give them a ring. x

  • What great news Sharon , it is such a relief to be told all clear.

I have travel insurance with my bank and even though all clear they won't cover the cancer . There's nothing to cover but they add any associated issues arising from it. I was told to try another company to cover anal cancer,  just annoying that I have to cover for something I haven't got now. I got a quote from All Clear that included it , maybe  try them .

Hope you get your mini break sorted soon  , you certainly deserve one after this journey .

Good idea to ring MacMillan .

  • Thanks Minty2 ,

I wasn’t expecting to be given the all clear at 3 months , thought I had to wait till 6 months , so it was fantastic to be told I’m all clear yesterday .
I’ll have a look at the All Clear company you’ve suggested.

  • Hi Sharon,

Brilliant news on your 3 month scan! So pleased for you and hope you get that break booked to celebrate xx

  • Hi Sharon ( ),

Even though you’ve had that all clear at your 3 month check-up, which I must say is fantastic news Tada, you will still have to declare your condition on any travel insurance for it to be valid. I still declared my cancer diagnosis on my travel insurance last year (6 years post treatment) although at that stage it made no difference to price. If you’d like more advise on this we have a Travel insurance forum for cancer patients group here on the online community & I got lots of helpful tips there when I travelled early into my recovery.

I hope you get that trip booked soon & enjoy!

  • Hello Sharon

That is just wonderful news, you must be SO relieved.  A mini-break sounds like just the thing you need and you have had some excellent advice about insurance.

    Have a lovely time!

  • Hi Nicola ,

I was naive to think , if you get the all clear you go back to pre cancer status , I’ll have a look on the Travel Insurance forum .
    Thanks for the advice.
    Best wishes
