Hi All.

I am now 2 months post treatment, generally feel ok.  I have started to exercise again running and working out at home.  Which i have missed more than ever, as stopped whilst having treatment.  This since treatment has been a massive mental escape for me, after feeling like a prisoner within my own home and not being able to go about my usual life in the way i wanted.

Has anyone experienced pelvic aching at all?  The past week or so, it really has been noticable.  Often waking me in the night, for my to knock back some painkillers and it be ok.  Didn't know if this was something i will continue to suffer with for some time?

Any helps, tricks and tips would be appreciated.

Thank you x

  • Hi.. welcome and fantastic news you post treatment..

I'm nearly 3 weeks post treatment so I'm still a bit sore and cramping..so hard to tell if it's normal..

I saw oncologist today and mentioned the cramp and heaviness down below but he said the radiotherapy is still working internally so try not to worry..

If your pain is waking  you up ..I would maybe suggest calling the treatment team to try to get appointment before your 3 month scan..

It's your body and anything that's worrying you talk to them.. they may say it's normal but they may want to see u..

I also started taking vitamin d in October when I found out I had AC and what treatment I was having..this was to help strengthen by bones as the doctor said your pelvic area as the radiotherapy is targeting this area is more suseptible to brittle bones and breakage.. the vitamins may not help but im going to carry on taking them..

Hope you get some answers soon..

  • Hi Squeak,

Thanks for your advice with regards to the vitamin D tablets.  I have been actually taking these, pre-diagnosis so all good there.

I am however going to explore to see if there is anything out there, that may help aid my bones.

  • Hello PinkShells

Sometimes the muscles and tendons in the pelvic area suffer some damage during radiotherapy (I have it and I am three years out of treatment) and like you, I take some painkillers if it really bothers me.  I also stiffen up if I sit too long.  I have been for a DEXA scan, an Xray and physiotherapy and the pain is definitely muscular as the scan and Xray have shown nothing wrong in the actual pelvis.

I think (for me) the trick is to keep moving and I was told that I should continue with the physiotherapy exercises I was given (my bad, I don't always!)  I still do about a three mile walk with my dog daily and that helps too.

I would certainly mention it when you have your check-up and call them before if you are really concerned - not that I think that there is anything seriously wrong but they are very good and are the professionals and will know what is normal and not.

I hope it all eases up for you, though.

  • Hi Irene,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my concern.

I think its all the unknown isn't it, all these little aches and pains, i probably overthink now due to what i/we've been through the past few months.

I'm very active so on the go all of the time, was beginning to think maybe i was doing too much too soon?  But think its just actually post treatment ailments.

I'm going to have a look into maybe some supplements that i can take, that may help with joint pain/aching.  If i manage to find something that works, i will keep you posted.

    Thanks again.
