Hello JET1414
I first developed piles during childbirth but over time they disappeared, only to come back with a vengeance during treatment. A couple of years later and they still hadn't gone. I had a day procedure under GA and at the same time the surgeon was going to do them (she didn't know if they would be banded or cut out). I completely lost my nerve and told them not to do anything, my poor backside has seen enough trauma! But that said, I have had a stoma for nine months and to my amazement they are still there, they haven't shrunk at all.
So in answer to your question there are surgical procedures for piles and I should have probably gone ahead. The various creams and suppositories eased the pain but did nothing to shrink them - sorry.
I would check with your GP - piles are miserable. If you do I am really interested in what he suggests.

Hi Irene,
I had them after child birth and thankfully they died but have come back with a vengeance following treatment.
I will ask my consultant at my 3 month check up and will let you know what he suggests. I will definitely try and do something to get rid of them they are a constant discomfort.
I feel I am wasting my time with the creams !

Hi lovely - the literal pain in the ass of haemorrhoids. I spoke to my oncologist and he said they are reluctant to remove them after radiotherapy due to the skin being so thin. They look at it a year post treatment to see if it’s possible but don’t seem to like doing it. I thought I had another one but it’s the tumour which I’m seeing as a good thing as when it goes the area should be clear. Witch hazel pads helped a little for me x
Hi ,
you are doing everything right , sitz bath , anusol etc … my partner has undergone surgical treatment to no avail , so my limited advice would be hang on in there , the area has had a bashing , so be gentle , use the instilligel to numb pain and get relief from less fibrous foods ..
good luck
