Hi , I hope everyone had a good Christmas .
I am now finishing week 4 of treatment and my bottom is sore .ive developed several inflamed haemorrhoids , the radiographer has given me some gel to apply today with local anaesthetic in it .
I’m going to start using my Sitz bath , is there a recommendation of how many times it should be used a day .
I’m counting down the days to finish , I’ve felt nauseous since the first day , I’ve had various anti emetics but nothing seems to help .
Wishing you all good health and happiness in 2025 .
Hi Goldie65 ,
Not long to go now, keep your eyes on the prize, just close your eyes & I'm sure you can visualise the finish line.
The 4 week mark seems to be generally where things get pretty uncomfortable for most of us, my skin held up until day 23 of radiotherapy. I had a sitz bath but only used it once or twice but I soaked in an Epsom salt bath morning & night every day for the 2 weeks post treatment, it was where I was most comfortable. There seems to be varying advised on the Epsom salt baths so I would see what your treating team advised. Regarding the sitz bath I can’t see why you shouldn’t use it as & when you feel the need if you’re using plain water, when going to the loo has become painful many people have used them numerous times a day to ease the discomfort. Are you limited to how often you can use the gel prescribed by your radiographer? Just as obviously you’ll need to reapply after using the sitz bath.
Sending lots of healing thoughts your way & wishing you an abundance of good health & happiness for the new year & beyond.
Nicola
Hello Goldie
At your stage in treatment the Sitzbath was a permanent fixture in the bathroom, I was using it filled with lukewarm water for bathing but also for bowel movements - it is easily emptied and disinfected. I had piles as well and going under water was less painful.
How miserable that you have felt nauseous since day one, I am so sorry that they haven't been able to find something to counteract that. But you really are on the home stretch now and can look forward to the end of the radiotherapy visits and relaxing and recovering at home.
Lots of good wishes for 2025 to you too - I will be thinking of you in these last few days.
Gentle hug

Hi Irene ,
The cream from Radiographer and Sitz bath have really helped .
The nausea is awful and tonight I’ve vomited which felt like a relief . I’ve felt so nauseous and washed out I’ve hardly been able to eat or drink .
Hoping hospital can offer some help tomorrow , don’t think I can face those tablets in the morning .
Thank for your support and kind wishes x
Hello Goldie65
I am thinking about your visit today - has your treating team been able to help?
Irene xx
Thanks Irene ,
Theyve added another Anti sickness drug and so far so good . I’ve been able to manage some scrambled eggs this evening, without throwing up .
Thanks for your kindness and concern x
I am so relieved - even though you haven't long to go feeling sick constantly is so debilitating. Those scrambled eggs must have been lush!
