I’m still really struggling! I’m in so much pain no one seems to be listening to me suicidal thoughts are worse then ever I’m just crying all the time, it keeps getting infected so they put me antibiotics the ones I can’t tolerate!! How do people get through this because I’m losing the battle
Hi Kimj I am so sorry to hear you are struggling so much. I also had a huge open wound (7cm deep….) on my bum after my surgical wound for anal cancer dehisced so I really sympathise with you. I didn’t find morphine was very good but oxycodone was excellent - I was sent home with some from hospital after surgery but my GP prescribed more once I had run out. I think if the pain can be more under control it might help your mood - I felt incredibly low when I was only able to lie on my side and hardly spend any time with my family but I am feeling almost normal now. My surgery was at the end of July. Please do speak to Samaritans if you are feeling so low or Macmillan offer six free counselling sessions if you would like to try and access those? Sending you all my best wishes that you start to heal and feel much better asap.

Hi sorry took so long to respond! I’m still struggling the recovery is the worst from radiotherapy it burnt all my skin on my bum an left the skin really hard an swollen! I’ve asked for oxycodone but not heard back yet!! My mental health is non existent I’ve talked to people but nothing seems to help x
Kim,
I was burned from my pubic bone to the top of my bottom. I remember lying on the bathroom floor screaming having tried to wee. I had District Nurses every day, taking photos & each one staring at my ladyship saying they had never seen anything like it. They put burns crams on, but I was eventually admitted to hospital suffering severe burns.
5 years on, it seems like a distant nightmare. Just hang on in there. You will get better. There is a life to be lived out there!
Very best wishes, you can do it!
