I was given the results of my first post treatment scans yesterday. My chemoradiotherapy treatment ended on 27th April and I had an MRI and PET-CT scan on 22nd July. My results were inexplicably delayed but finally I had my appointment with my oncologist yesterday. After a long consultation and a painful internal examination I got the news I was waiting for…
I NO LONGER HAVE CANCER!!!
I have an MRI scan scheduled for three months and then every six months until five years has passed. I cannot explain the feeling of relief at this news. Any pain I now experience is down to scar tissue and one day that will go away too. I can now look forward to planning and making new memories.
I struggle to insert a very smooth lidacaine pessary for pain relief, about 1cm across.
