Hi everyone. Hope you are doing well in your journey.
i finished my CRT mid December. I still have the urgent need for the toilet so I don’t go far from home. I feel more tired now than when I was having the treatment, which I think is weird. I’m eating ok as food has never been my thing anyway. Drinking plenty of fluids.
I had my 3 months scan and got the result back about 2 weeks ago and there is something so small showing on the left side that they actually can’t tell what it is. So I have to wait for the next scan and if it is still there another biopsy. It’s a bit depressing as they sort of get your hopes up with we have have caught it early and treatment should work!!. Well I am keeping everything crossed for the next scan . The weird thing was when I was having the actual scan they came in to make sure I didn’t have anything in my pocket as they saw something on the image , so that probably should have made me realise then.
I am still not back to work yet because of the toilet problem and tiredness.
sorry to rant on x
Hi Michelle F6eb802 Well done on getting through treatment. Try not to worry about your scan results, the 6 month one is the important one as the treatment carries on working for a while after you have completed it. Some people on here have found the FOD map diet helpful for toilet issues. Things will hopefully improve for you in time it's still early days in your recovery. Sending hugs. X
Hi Michelle,
It can take quite a long time for your body to recover so try to just take things gradually and you'll get there. I have read here about people using period pants just as a bit of extra security, and it might be worthwhile looking into the cards you can get to show in shops etc which allows you to use staff loos if you need to. Macmillan do them if you just Google Macmillan toilet card, and the RADAR people also do one which gives access to public disabled loos which need a RADAR key.
As Bungle1 says, the treatment carries on working after it has finished and the six month scan often gives a more clear picture of how you are doing, so in the meantime carry on looking after yourself and hopefully things will have settled by then - and you can have a rant here if you need to xxx
Hi Michelle F6eb802 , as Bungle1 has said it’s not uncommon for there not to have been a complete response to treatment at that 3 month mark, hopefully by the 6 month mark things will have resolved.
The fatigue lasted quite a while for me, it just very gradually got a bit less where I would have a couple of good days then a day where I’d have to do absolutely nothing, then the day after I’d feel good to go again & the gaps between these down days just got longer & longer until I felt I was getting back to normal.
Regarding the toilet issues try a very low residue diet often described as a ‘white’ diet, white bread, white potatoes, white rice, white fish, chicken & so on or as suggested try the FODMAP diet.
I hope things begin to improve soon.
Nicola
Hi lovely. Try not to worry. It takes up to 2 years to heat. I was told. I’m nearly a year on since finishing treatment and can’still get caught out going to the toilet . I had swelling Odema on my scans but they were not at all concerned about that. It’s very early days yet . Keeping everything crossed for you. Warm wishes Anne
