Hi, me again! 14 days of treatment done and 14 days left to go!
Side effects kicking in now - repeated toilet trips with a sore bum being the worst.
Got the Flamigel and that other cream gel that soothes the area. Drinking loads. Sitz baths in full swing. Happy po etc
Is there anything that helps that constant/,frequent urge to poo even when you don't need to go?
Hi Figgywig you are on the home straight now well done. I just followed my radiotherapists advice re the poo urge which was if you haven't done anything after a couple minutes at most you don't need to go, it's the inflammation tricking you and you just have to ignore it. Sorry that's not much help really. Xx
It might be worth mentioning it to radiotherapists, Figgywig, I think they can give you some kind of anti-inflammatory suppository which might help.
Sorry I can't think of anything else but I would hope it will subside as your treatment progresses. Not too long now!!!
xx
I will talk to them tomorrow as I have my weekly review and see what can be done to help, if anything. It was bad yesterday but things have calmed a little today and I can move about without fear of triggering toilet dashes every 10 mins! I am over half way and just got to see it through. My bench mark is, is it as bad as post surgery...not quite hit that high yet...although yesterday got close.
Thank you for you to you and others who have replied - the support is much appreciated
Hello Figgywig
It is truly uplifting when you pass the half-way mark and get nearer and nearer to the end goal - being cancer-free. And you are doing all the right things to help with your symptoms. I had constant loo trips but did need to go, I had diarrhoea all during treatment and had the sore bottom and my childbirth piles came back with a vengeance.
But I didn't experience the urge without needing to go (although I did after treatment ended). It would be a good idea to mention it to your team, there may be something they can give you that will help in the meantime.
And just keep applying the creams and mark off the days on your calendar!
Irene xx
