Hello fellow travellers
Sorry not to have posted recently, but this is the first time I've felt well enough to even think about getting my thoughts into some sort of order.
Well, treatment got completed amidst a whirl of exhaustion. It was like being on a fairground ride and I couldn't get off. Still can't in fact, but at least the daily hospital trips came to an end.
But the radiation side effects and the lay-you-out tiredness and fuzzed-up brain, kicked in big time. Blimey.
Diarrhoea has been ferocious. I've lost all interest in food and I'm not eating much at all. There doesn't seem much point when it's at the exit within the hour. I'm taking low-dose co-codamol to try to control the bowel with it's constipating side effects. This does offer some small relief for a few hours, but as I'm nearly at the threshold for these, I'm looking to get a slighter higher dose to do the job. Lying flat is the least painful option, so I'm spending a fair bit of time in bed and sleeping.
The most useful piece of kit so far has been the peri-bottle which has proved a god-send and disposable sheets which save a lot of washing and let the air circulate instead of bothering with pants.
I hope that others have managed to get through the treatment and are managing to deal with all this after-stuff?
I'm very up and down with it. Just hope it's all been worth the sweat.
Hugs to you all,
Rainie
