Hello everyone it’s been a little while since I posted. It will be 14 months at the end of March since I finished my treatment. I got the results of my recent mri scan and it’s good news! The tumour has all gone, full response to treatment. There is still a lymph node in my pelvis but the oncologist assures me it’s shrinking and she isn’t worried about it. I will have a follow up scan in four months to check on it. I have been discharged from her back to the surgeon at my local hospital.
I also had a steroid injection in my hip a couple of weeks ago. I have been in awful pain with arthritis. This has definitely got worse since the radiotherapy. The injection has helped a lot but now I have severe lower back pain. I’m not sure if this is coincidence or because of the injection? If it carries on I’m going to speak to my GP.
I don’t always post but I do still pop in here. It’s a lovely supportive space. I hope everyone is doing ok wherever you are on your journey?

Fantastic news about the tumour Clarhedge, but sorry to hear you have hip pain.
Nicola, Irene and PEB24 have been posting some excellent information regarding their personal journeys with the after effects of radiation treatment.
I hope you get the support you need and maybe access to a specialist clinic for support and treatment.
Wishing you all the very best.
Ally xx
Hello Clarhedge
Thank you so much for posting your wonderful news - I am so happy to read this, you must be on cloud nine!
As Ally says, there is an ongoing discussion about hip and back painTo those with painful hips...which you might want to check out. You certainly aren't the only one affected and in your shoes, I would start chasing up right now. If you have a late effects clinic near you that would be the best choice, your GP may not be aware of what is available. You could check first with your treating hospital, there may well be one there.
Big hug
Irene xx
Hi Clarhedge ,
This is great news regarding your scan results, it’s all we can wish for isn’t it?
As Irene & Ally have already mentioned check out the discussion we’ve been having regarding hip pain on the post that Irene has flagged, you might see something that you relate to.
Nicola
Thank you Irene. I think we have chatted before about hips! I had arthritis before radiotherapy but it’s ten times worse now. I will jump on the other thread.
There is a late effects clinic that the oncologist mentioned. I am under orthopaedics now though. X
