What underwear is best for wearing after radiotherapy

I wore mens baggy boxer shorts and went commando at home when ever possible. You seem to have everything covered with your purchases, but i would add water wipes and moisturiser, the ones i was told i could use were E45, aveeno or aloe vera gel 99% pure. 

With regards to food, i dont rate those types of drink as they have so much crap in them. If i was you i would buy a quality protein powder without any fillers in or even a bone broth powder and make smoothies or soup you can pack them full of healthy foods and gut health.  These are the ones i use.

Hi.. good luck on starting your treatment..

I wore fine cotton knickers for my daily visits   but soon as I came home was commando..

Through the night I wore my husband soft cotton boxers just in case I had any accidents..

I stocked up on aveeno cream..i still use it..water wipes fir my toilet visits and a shewe..that was a godsend..

I also made sure I had plenty fruit barley water and drank loads each day to avoid cystitis..I got packets of haribo sweets and chews as the chemo made me sickly..I practically lived on white toast and dairy lea.. buttermilk pancakes and porridge  .

I found wearing trunk type underwear that were made from a stretchy material and with no seams in the groin area worked best for me, with baggy boxers the material wasn’t right and they could gather but you may find you need to try and see what’s best for you. You also have the option of no underwear esp at home, I didn’t though due to the risk of accidents and leaks.

For skin care I used Aveeno and Zeroveen moisturisers during and after therapy, the Zeroveen was also very good for cleaning up after a BM.

If you are going to use something during treatment that hasn’t been given to you by your team it is worth running it by them first as a lot of products even ones that are marketed as being for sensitive skin can really sting and irritate you during treatment, for example my Sanex shower wash for sensitive skin was far too harsh so I had to switch to a different product.

I didn’t have an issue with my appetite so can’t tell you what I used but I’d say if you do struggle your care team should be able to put you in touch with the nutritionist and supply you with something, I witnessed this happening at my treatment hospital.

Like the others, I went commando at home, although as the treatment gave me diarrhoea I wore incontinence pants to and from the hospital although I found that an effort towards the end of treatment when I was very tender.  So big pants/boxer shorts is definitely the way to go.  I also bought jogging bottoms which were very loose and soft.

I topped up with EnsurePlus as my appetite was also really affected and I had lost weight.  It is a drink commonly given in nursing homes and has all the vitamins and minerals needed.

You sound really well-prepared and the only other thing I would add is a calendar so that you can mark off the days of treatment - it really is exhilarating to see the end of treatment getting closer and closer.  It will go quicker than you think.

None if you can help it! I wore loose pj bottoms at home and at night sat with nothing on my lower half, legs akimbo to allow air to circulate (obv had a blanket!). Sitz bath and re application of creams after every loo visit, as son as I got up and when I went to bed. My appetite was crap but i still ate 3 small meals a day, my appetite still isnt the same and I am 7 weeks post treatment. Cheese on toast and chocolate were my go to foods.

some great advice already, I would only add make sure any underwear doesn't have seams that might touch your skin and are nice and soft.

For your first session, make sure you take something to do and some food - it can be a bit long and drawn out so just be prepared to hang around. Once you get the first day over the other sessions are fine and usually pretty fast.
