Hi All, my colorectal nurse prescribed Oramorph should I need it when I got my diagnosis 2 weeks ago. I haven't started my treatment yet but the last 2 days have had increased aching in the rectal area, warm bath helps, but unsure if maybe now I should take some Oramorph? However she never mentioned the dosage so am a bit reluctant /nervous about how to start it, any advice would be helpful. I see the consultant Wednesday morning to arrange treatment plan so hopefully will be able to discuss this with him as well.

  • This is good to hear that things went well with your first treatment  & the ball is rolling now, I hope you’re managing to relax a little bit knowing treatment is finally underway.

Got everything crossed that this offers you fantastic results. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

  • Hi Nicola

Thanks, just had the 2nd treatment today. One more next Friday then a week off. Then repeat for another cycle then a CT to check progress. Just glad it's moving now.

  • Hi Irene,

Just had the 2nd treatment today, bloods were all ok they were happy to go ahead. Booked in for next Friday all being well then a week off. Waiting on those blood results is so nerve racking isn't it!

Can you remember if you were given the steroids to take at home for 3 days after each treatment or just the 1st? They haven't given me them today just the GCSF injections & anti sickness, I sid ask and the girls in the unit said no nobe to take home.

    Thanks

  • I am really having to think back - I think I was given tablets to take at home but they didn't affect me in the same way as the anti-nausea I had in hospital.  I used to get home and it wasn't unusual to find me ironing at 2am, my sleep was so affected the night after I had treatment.  I have had a look through my notes and didn't record the quantity of tablets I had, however, I did have chronic constipation after each session so that might be something you should be aware of.  At that time I took Lactulose afterwards to help with this. x
