As I've been reading through this forum, I've noticed a few of us are starting our treatment journey in   January and wondered how many of us are starting on the 6th.

Anxiety is rather high today, but I'm hoping once treatment starts, that will ease off and I'm ready to kick this cancer butt good riddance!

  • Just offering you both   &  a warm welcome to the MacMillan Online Community although I’m sorry to hear of you recent diagnosis’s. Wishing you both the very best of luck for tomorrow, I’ll be thinking of you both.  my anxiety was through the roof waiting to start my treatment but things settled down greatly once I was in the routine of attending daily appointments & I felt a bit more in control so hopefully you’ll feel the same, once that first day is over & you know what to expect then you’ll begin to relax a little.

Keep that warrior energy, this treatment is short & sharp but doable as many of us here can testify.

    Good luck both of you.

    Nicola

  • Thanks Nikki65. Have a good evening Blush

  • Hello  and

Welcome to the forum although I am sorry you had to find yourselves here.  Nearly everyone has been through or is going through the treatment that you are about to start and know exactly what it is like.  We have lots of tips and coping strategies we can share if you haven't read through previous posts.  Like a Sitzbath, very cheap on Amazon and lovely for soothing your nether regions and even for bowel movements if you are really sore - easily emptied and disinfected.

I know how anxiety is huge in the beginning, not to mention fear.  But once treatment starts you will feel more in control of what is happening, although it mightn't seem like it right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

it is really positive (if there is a positive in all of this) that there are quite a few forum members who start on the same date as you both and it can be really useful to have the support from others who are going through exactly the same at the same time as you.

And we are all here to support you along the way too should you need it so thinking of you both tomorrow.

    Irene xxx

  • I will be thinking of you both too! Wishing you get through this with minimal side effects ( some people have hardly any) and that you will look back on it all grateful to be cancer free.

My treatment was due to start on 6th Jan but its moved to 7th Jan..

Today has been a right off and my anxiety has been through the roof.. but tomorrow I'm planning on cleaning the house top to bottom to keep myself from getting anxious and trying to get an early night..

I agree with the rest of the forum and once the treatment starts we can all count down the days until it finishes..we can all support each other through this journey

Good luck with your treatment and stay positive x

    1. Thank you Irene75359 for the support & encouragement it means a lot, I originally had a tumour on my spine 15 years ago went through surgery chemo and radiotherapy and finally after 2 years I was in remission.

    2. Then only last week, I had a very bad chest infection only to be told I got stage 4 lung cancer which certainly was a big shock as I have been asking for nearly two years a MRI scan of my chest even the chest clicic requested a scan but I never got an appointment i was high risk because both my gran & great gran both died from a lung Cancer
    3. my GP should of referred me and it’s very annoying he didn’t and now I’m in this position hmmmm.
    4. once again I like to say thanks for your support and understanding. Take care
