Hi Everyone,

I am 10 days post treatment but had a really bad flare up this morning, morphine was no help at all.

How long will these keep happening?

They are so depressing as well as excruciatingly painful when you think you should be getting better.

  • Hi Jet1414

Its perfectly what to expect unfortunately. I felt the same as you. I got quite upset and sorry for myself but the treatment team assured me that it would get better very quickly. My crisis point was 3 weeks post treatment. I felt that my progress was going in the wrong direction and I would never feel ok again. However miraculously I did turn that corner a few days later and felt elated. I’m sure this will be the same for you. I know that when you’re in the middle of a flare up you can’t believe it’s going to change. It will - I promise you. You’re almost there!

    love and hugs

  • Hello JET1414

I am really sorry that you suffered such pain today.  If you have cut your morphine because you were feeling a bit better then you can get break-through pain which is what may have happened to you.  If you haven't, it might be an idea to ring your treating team and they may increase your dose to get you through this period.  It can be utterly miserable, I know and at the time one wonders will there ever come the time again when having a bowel movement is a vaguely satisfying experience.

It really won't be long now.

    Sending a gentle healing hug

  • Hi Irene,

I think that’s exactly what happened. I woke up this morning thinking it was a good night and nothing was hurting so maybe I didn’t need my morning shot of morphine…….what a mistake that was
