I’m only on in Day 3 of my treatment. Had Mytomycin on Day 1 and daily Capecitabine tablets. Radio each day but today I’m exhausted. Is this normal?
Hi Heather09
I'm 2 weeks after treatment. I wasn't overly tired during my treatment but my oncologist had told me I would be so it definitely is a side affect of radiotherapy. It may be the mitomycin, that made me feel very sick. I also think going to and from treatment every day plus the emotional side of it all can be exhausting. Be kind to yourself and have as much rest as you need. Sending big hugs. Xx
Hello Heather,
I think the whole thing is exhausting - physically and emotionally. You have had all the stress of diagnosis, scans, meetings etc and now it is underway I think you are probably just shattered with it all.
My only advice would be to lean into it if you can - try to rest when you are able, eat as well as you feel up to. It's a tough treatment, and tiring enough without trying to fight against it too.
Use the radiotherapy team for any help you need to get through, and treat yourself kindly.
You'll get through. All the best.
Hi get as much rest as you can and as the others have said it’s overwhelming - talk to your team daily when there and you can cal the helpline too - don’t worry without asking about anything and eat as well as you can (also mentioned sorry). Hope you have support, please keep us updated as everyone cares and is waiting for, going through similar or are out the other side x priceless help x sending love x Angie
Hello Heather09
Fatigue is very common, when you think about it your body is going into overdrive trying to repair itself after the radiotherapy. And chemo can affect you too. I really hope that your aren't under pressure to try and do things in the next few weeks and that you can just rest as and when you need to. Some of us sat and binge-watched television and napped all the way through treatment, I did and at the latter part of treatment I would just get into bed and my husband would make something to tempt me to eat.
This treatment is tough but doable and it isn't for long, so keep counting off those days.
Another hug from me.
Irene xx
