Hello everyone
I’m a couple of weeks into treatment and I’m starting to feel the effects in my pelvic area. I was so shocked as to how my bottom looked that I took a photo to show my review nurse who confirmed that’s normal….and it will get worse before it gets better!
So looking for a cushion to ease the pain. I have been recommended the RoHo but it’s very, very expensive so just wondering what has worked for anyone else on here please?
Many thanks xx
Hi ivymay just to say welcome to the group. To answer your question regarding the cushion I tried the do nut cushion which is like a rubber ring but did not get on with that and was given a square blown up cushion with lots of holes so when you sit on it you do not sink into a whole like the do nut putting pressure on the pelvic area. Unfortunately I did not get on with either of these. I haven’t heard of a RoHo cushion. I would have plenty of soaks in a sitz bath to sooth the skin. I am sure your team will be able to give you suitable creams to help with the healing of your skin. Any questions you want to ask, fire away and there are some newbies on here that have recently started their treatment and it’s a chance to share experiences and useful tips. Julie
My husband sent for an extremely expensive cushion that was incredibly uncomfortable. I ended up with https://www.boots.com/boots-maternity-comfort-cushion-10288930?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc-_-PLAs_HeroCompare-_-Baby_Accessories-_-UK_Smart_Shopping_Baby_Accessories&gclid=CjwKCAjwq5-WBhB7EiwAl-HEksAiWUjGQEHn1pV06jvwniA3fVYrPf8R-CRI8dOLpnXKkRlAfyGQPRoCjs4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
which I found (at £9.99) more than adequate for use when sitting in bed and in the car going for treatment.
Hello Ivy, My hospital has loaned me the use of a cushion for the duration of my treatment. It's square, padded with a dip valley running from top to bottom. The nurse said it's best for easing pressure she told me NOT to use the doughnut ring as it puts too much pressure on the pelvic.
The name on it says The VALLEY® Cushion.
It came in handy whilst in the waiting are and on the bus journey home.
