I finished my 5.5 treatment on Wednesday my lovely consultant said things would be unpleasant For next 14 days. I am having runs once or twice a day the nurse said no take the diarrhea tablet unless it was persistent. I am not sure how to get back to normal poops. I eat little and often and try to eat some fibre. I want to go out but scared off accident. The frequency off peeing is dying down. Sorry about subject matter off post
Hi Blackpudding no need to apologise, we are very used to talking about toilet times on here! I would recommend keeping a food diary to see what food/drinks set you off. Personally I find the too much caffeine or fibre can set me off. I can’t eat as many fruit and vegetables as I used to and I have to be careful with spicy food. Even mildly spicy food can sometimes set me off yet other times it’s ok. In the early days I would take Loperamide (anti diarrhoea tablets) before going out as I couldn’t risk an accident. What you’re going through is very normal at the moment, you’re in the very early stages of recovery. Try the food diary and a fairly bland diet and hopefully things will improve. Bev
I hope so it seems to be cheeses and onions and sadly garlic it's strange I will definitely try food diary
Hi try a low residue / fibre diet, these are both the same really, so nothing with fibre in it, eating things like porridge, white potatoes, white bread etc look it up, hope it helps this is what I was told to go on x
Hi Blackpudding
I literally lived off of everything stodgy. Avoiding fibre at all costs, including potatoes. I put on a stone in weight but it did help with the dashing to the toilet every 5 minutes!! I also ate smaller portions but stuck to 3 meals. I went to toilet more often with frequent meals which wasn’t nice in the sore early days. Normal poops will come again! ;-)
Thanks I will try this just need to get my peeing under control I will get there
Will try this not want to take too many tablets as they make feel bloated
Have you tried consulting your GP? I am having to give a poo sample then will be referred to a nutritionist at my local hospital. Hope this helps.
