Hi
I’m now 3 weeks in to my radiotherapy and starting to feel like I have thrush down there as well as an itchy bum hole, I keep telling them can I have canastan cream but the radiologist has given me barrier cream which isn’t any good, it’s keeping me awake at night now, iv tried looking to see what’s in canastan cream as I know we can’t use creams that have metal in, but I’m not sure whether there is or not, does anyone suggest anything that can stop the itching I’m desperate now, as I’m only making it worse thanks in advance x
Hi I just wanted to say when I was towards the end of my treatment I had the terrible itch and lots of green pus. It was worrisome as I thought I had an infection but it wasn’t. They checked me out and it was just another side effect from the radiotherapy. The green discharge was very sticky and my labia would stick together and as I was allergic to anything with gold or honey in it I was prescribed a itch cream via my doctor. I am nine months post treatment but can remember the journey of treatment like it was yesterday. The good thing about when you start to heal things become easier. Any symptoms should always be discussed with your medical team.
Hi Peta Hope you don't mind me asking, but how ofter do you need to have the Epsom salt bath.and how much does one put in the bath.I think I,ll give it a try,but I must say,I can get into the bath, but have great difficulty getting out.I usually shower..Thanks.
Have you tried a sitz bath? You can get them from Amazon and I found mine really helpful. It's like a potty you fit over the loo and fill it with water, then just sit on the toilet and your bottom gets to soak. They collapse flat so are easy to store away. It might be a bit easier for you if you'd rather not use a bath.
Hi Belzy,
I agree with Mrs Vanilla if you’re struggling with the bath then a portable bidet would be the ideal solution, I bought mine from Amazon, you could add some warm water with a couple of tablespoons of Epsom salts & give your bottom a soak, personally I found the Epsom salts & Dead Sea salts really soothing.
