Hi I was diagnosed with anal cancer on the 23rd of February I see my oncologist tomorrow but I am finding it very painful when sitting down can anyone give me any advice
Hi there Tracey jayne,
Welcome to the online community although I’m sorry that you’ve had the need to find us.
Firstly have you been given contact with a specialist nurse at all? When I received my diagnosis a lovely nurse sat in with the consultant when he delivered the news & she gave me a number that I could reach her on & told me if I had any questions or worries in between then & seeing my surgeon/oncologist just to give her a call, I now know she was a specialist nurse connected with the lower colon team at my local hospital. If you’ve been given such a contact then they should be able to advise on a cushion or the likes for you to use that may make things a little more comfortable for now. I used a doughnut cushion following my surgery (click on my username & you can read a little about me there) but others have been provided with different types of pressure cushions, hopefully someone that’s used these other designs of cushions will be along soon to offer some advice on those too. If you’re seeing your oncologist today don’t be afraid to ask them I’m sure they’ll be able to advise you on something that would make you a little more comfortable for the time being too.
I hope your appointment goes well today.
Nicola
