Hi Guys,
I have AML and was diagnosed in January this year. It has been a hellish journey and if anyone wants all the details and maybe some help to newly diagnosed members, let me know but be prepared for a long story.
Regards
BandP
Hi again and well done navigating across to this group.
Everyone in these blood cancer groups ‘have a story’ to tell and honestly, this platform is as good a place to put your story down in black and white.
Doing this will help others looking in for information (often people join these groups, look for information but never actually post)….. but getting your story out will also help you.
As I said in your other post I have lived and been treated for my rare NHL for over 23 years so I do understand the journey rather well (you can hit my community name to see my story)
For good information do also check out Leukaemia Care UK who produce very good information and various support platforms including their Buddy Scheme.
Always around to help more or just to chat
Hi BandP, thank you for taking the time to share your story. My partner is 3 weeks into his AML journey. Finished 1st round of intensive chemo. Is now struggling with high temperature spikes all through the day, DR's removed picc line to see if that was causing the infection and we are waiting on results from that. But now they are also saying it could be the dead leukaemia cells in his body. I too would been keen to read your account and experience x thanks in advance x
Hello BandP,
I was diagnosed with AML mid April and like yourself have had a ‘hellish’ journey. Been a rollercoaster to be honest, even though was in remission after first bout of chemo. Had second to consolidate treatment but then had long wait sorting donor. Meant to be having transplant beginning of October but today blood test results not good. Neutrophils plummeted to 0.2 even though I feel absolutely fine. Having urgent biopsy Monday to see if relapsed. Would appreciate hearing your story.
Hi Coot although I have a different type of blood cancer I understand the journey to Stem Cell Transplant well having had two Allo (donor) SCTs.
We do actually have a dedicated Stem cell transplant group for as and when you go on the SCT rollercoaster.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
