Hi All
Anyone else out there that's had an SCT (allo) in the last few months. If so has your team given any advise on when you are able to have your first Covid vaccine.
My wife had her SCT on 4th August, we're not expecting a jab until maybe 6 months post transplant, just a bit concerned regarding this new variant.
I can see us being even more cautious than at present with the possibility of being in our own lockdown for quite some time.
Currently getting out for a little shopping and coffee at quiet times and visiting family but think this will need to be reduced going forward.

Hi Nick, I have talked with a few folks (on a Lymphoma support group) who are all post SCT both Allo and Auto and they all have had their Covid jabs at between 90 to 100 days post SCT.
But Covid or not, keeping a low profile is essential post SCT. I was never in a shop, cafe….. anywhere with an uncontrolled crowed for about 6 months post both my Allo’s…… and still developed Pneumonia and Neutropenic Sepsis
Hi Mike
Wow, that must have been scary, picking up both with 6 months.
We are very very carefull where we go TBH. Always wear masks wherever we are inside and out.
My wife is now 117days post with zero infections, no transfusions and no Hospital visits apart from weekly now fortnightly blood tests and consultation. Immune system still very low but neuts, platelets, and other bloods all doing well.
Starting to reduce ciclosporin slowly but I guess this will be a while yet before she's off these. Currently on 200mg per day from 250.
Still taking antibiotics and acyclovir along with ciclosporin but doing incredibly well.
Sounds like you are doing all the correct things. I had Pneumonia and Neutropenic Sepsis over a year out from Allo
I just looked back my treatments timeline. It was day 196 post Allo when I eventually came off my Cyclosporin. Aciclovir and Septrin were 18 months post Allo and 6 years on I am still on one antibiotic that most likely will be for life.
I have been officially discharged from my SCT Team for a few years but trying to navigate getting the new Shingrix none Shingles vaccine that has been approved in Scotland.
Hi All
Good news, my wife had her consultation this morning and has been told she can now have her first covid jab and in addition the flu jab. At least this gives her a little more protection. They didn't mention the pneumonia jab however so will need to check.
I'm probably overthinking things, but just wondering if the type of covid jab makes any difference from the Astra zeneca jabs she had prior to SCT.
I have no idea, I had AZ for my first 2 then Pfizer for number 3.
She is starting from square me again so it may be worth asking her Specialist Nurse if they have any preference - good news though.
