Hi

Hope you are all ok. Have been reading some of the questions and answers you guys post and finding it really helpful! My mum was diagnosed with leukaemia last year.... been really up and down and I’m trying to help her as much as I can. I give her support and now feeling I need some too.  Nurses been fantastic... doctors not so much and pretty much left her with very little reassurance or clarity. I know it’s hard for them but more so for my mum. Anyway... the help I need is my mum’s cheeks have recently become quite red... like she’s been in the sun... and she has been outside but sitting under shade? I know skin is more sensitive with Chemo so can anyone recommend a SPF moisturiser for her please?

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike  and I help out around our blood cancer groups.

Some of the medical support can indeed be patchy but often the Specialist Cancer Nurses are the ones who can bring clear information, guidance and answer questions

I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable but treatable skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a and although my blood cancer ‘type’ is different I have experienced most types of treatments used but not necessarily the exact same drug mix.

Skin care has been part of my life for over 22 years due to my type of skin NHL…. My Dermatologists basic rule was Factory 50 ALL year round, brand did not matter much but looking for accreditation from Cancer Research was a good starting point.

All my skin treatments were proscribed as they were specialist Dermatology products but the best people to talk with is your local Pharmacist…… as they can help using the small ailments clinic rules ((hugs))
