My husband age 50 was diagnosed last February and had 3 rounds of chemo and went into remission after first chemo.

I’m really worried just now as the last few weeks he has been having flushes/sweats,Loss of appetite & feeling  tired.

He had bloods taken 2 weeks ago & has a telephone consultation with oncologist tomorrow I’m just so anxious the Leukaemia is back and what happens if it is.

  • Hi  and sorry to hear your concerns.

I have lived and been treated for my rare type of NHL for over 21 years now and the one thing I have found out is the on going effects of treatments last a long time after treatment is finished and plays with the body resulting in just what you are describing.

The other thing is that there are many tools in the tool box to treat 2nd, 3rd times, I know this as I have had multiple remissions over my years but now into my 6th year in remission.

Do ensure he has a list of his symptoms so he can highlight then to his consultant during his appointment.

    ((hugs))

    1. Thank you so much for your reply and it has made me feel more positive firstly that I may be worrying and may be something else or as you say long term side effects but also that you are 6 years in remission after being in remission a few times and being treated for 21 years.
  • I do think that amongst cancer the blood cancer journey is truly the extreme rollercoaster.
