Hi there, just to say hi from "holiday bed" in hospital after strange infection crept up on me suddenly. This us the thing with these diseases, one day feeling ok, next not so. My legs & feet swollen to almost elephant size (well baby elephant) with strange red fiery lumps - difficulty mobilizing but as always hospital team got down to drips, meds etc swiftly, trying to get temp down . Breakthrough last night when temp stable all night & I enjoyed 4 hours of blissful sleep . So I guess if there is a secret to us all coping and dealing with this intrusion in our lives is just as like in AA - one day @ a time. Keep going.
So sorry to hear this news. Blood cancers can be like that as your overall immune system is doing its best to deal with your cancer........then out if the blue - bang.
Its important to have the ability to identify an oncoming infection and act quickly but there are the ones when you are good one minute then the next....... it all goes wrong.
Good that you are on the mend and let’s see you out enjoying your holiday. Are you abroad or in the UK?
xx
Thanks Highlander, yeah did not detect this in the morning as temp normal altho swollen ankles started off then it quickly escalated however blood cultures show no bacterial/fungal etc infection so who knows? Maybe it's because I had been to torcher chamber to get tooth extracted set it all off! Only kidding as they were very good but had it done after this happened. Sorry my remark re "holiday bed" was flippant, having hoped to get couple of days away when ended up in western instead. My weird sense of humour. Hope you are well.
I have s sure sign that something is up - I start to shake all over. Normal temperature one moment, 40.2 the next.
Our medical records are all available across Scotland and I have a Red Flag comes up. I have had so many occasions that we actually have a grab bag with everything that is required to be admitted. We phone 111 and the Red Flag comes up, so never have to go to A&E but direct to triage or a ward...... saves a lot of time and get treatment in places much quicker.
((hugs))
Yeah experienced the 40 temp Thursday night uncontrollable - had few times but thankfully stabilising. We have similar straight through call to ward here in Edinburgh so they have saved my life several times with the fast action required. Onwards
