Because AML isn't enough of a gift, a recent bone density test indicates low bone density. Great. So how many of you have broken bones after all the chemo and steroids?

Not a great gift to be getting. I have Osteoarthritis so not the same and have not had any broken bones before or after my Chemo and SCTs so can’t help.

  • Ah Alissa...it's the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?

I have low bone density too, following a year on steroids for GVHD.  I have osteopenia and have not yet developed full-blown osteoporosis.  My consultant has said that the condition is completely reversible, as bone continues to grow and recommends any weight-bearing exercise, like walking, running, gardening, dancing, zumba etc.

Unfortunately I can't do much exercise at the moment because I have joint pain and stiffness all over with steroid-induced adrenal insufficiency.  If it's not one flippin' thing, it's another!

But don't let it stop you -  get your running shoes on and download the Couch to 5K app! :)

    Very best wishes
