Hi All,
I haven’t posted for a while but today I can’t seen to get the panic under control. My Dad (73) has AML FLT3. He did Indiction 7+3 with Mylotarg back in December and then a 8 day consolidation after in Jan, followed by hidac in Feb. He is now on Midostaurin (although a reduced dose as he has heart issues) and is on a monthly check up. April was his first one and all the bloods were good which was great. However at his May check up the Doctor said that his platelets had dropped. She said all his other bloods were ok but that platelets were often the first to drop and she felt she should warn that this could be the start of relapse. My parents were shocked as this felt very soon, which she agreed it would be. And that was it. It was basically see you next month unless you feel sick between now and then. His next appointment is 10th of June and I feel sick at the thought of what that might reveal. He had a sore throat for one day the other week which has now gone but other than that has felt fine. The positive part of me wants to think that surely if it was back it would have made him feel ill by now...the worried part of me has no idea how long a relapse takes to show symptoms...the positive part says surely if the doc was really concerned she would have called him back for a re-test in 2 weeks rather than wait the week. The worried part thinks why say it could be relapse at all if it was only the platelets that has dropped...I am literally going round in circles.......
