Hi all just entered remission with aml . My consultant informed me that all the markers from my bone marrow are showing these indicators, I’m not sure what will happen next I’ve heard if your in full remission your treatment stops. Is this correct is there anybody in the group who have reached this stage and can tell me more

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here and so sorry to hear that you have been going through treatment for AML.

But wonderful news that your consultant has told you that you are in remission. Have you been told that treatment will continue?......this can often happen as it helps to put a good lid on your AML.

I don't have AML but over my 20 years journey with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma treatments do at times need to be extended to ensure good remission. But I am sure that some of AML folks will come along and help you out from their expereance.

Hi not as of yet they are having a big meeting on Tuesday as you know they do where they brainstorm not sir if I’ll have to back in or go on a day release as an outpatient. I’m hoping if I do need a bit more treatment it won’t be as rough as first time round I had liver issues , stomach infections , ended up in icu with low potassium which meant I could have had heart failure and to top it off ended up with fungal pneumonia. And home at the moment until they decide what happens next.

  • Hi again, the MDT will have a look at all the information and come back with a recommendation as how to progress.

It is a rough ride at times but it is all about getting the very best result as possible.

Hi highlander I’m now back in hospital I’ve just started

my consolidation treatment today. I’m not on mylatag

thank goodness so I have a nine cycle to go then

I flatline out and wait for my counts to go up. When

i started my first cycle I had started with a low

blood count. This time I have a full count with no

issues I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

  • This is a great start and let’s look for this to continue and please keep us up to date with your progress.
