Background to my AML.
I live in southern Spain, about an hour from the provincial capital of Jaén and I am aged 74,
On January 9th 2018, I was given the news, I had AML. Started treatment that day with Azacitidine.
6 months later I had a Bone Marrow Aspiration - result was still 30% blast with maturation. New drug added - Thioguanine.
February 2019 - another Bone Marrow Aspiration.
Result told to me last Wednesday is - I am in remission, but no Azacitidine and now continue with Thioguanine for 3 days a weeks (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). Bloods again in 2 weeks with another consultation, as my last bloods showed a marked decrease in my white blood cell count - consultant believes this is down to me suffering bad constipation.
I still wear a mask when out & about. Wash hands regularly and use alcohol hand gel.
All in all, I feel great.
Good to hear from you and lets look for your remission to continue for years to come.
Hello Nicola
I live in Spain and as far as I know, we do not have other types of AML. Just acute myeloid leukaemia. Back to see my consultant in just over 2 weeks time - now it is just maintenance treatment..
With kind regards
Richard.
