Travel insurance required

Hello. I’m new to this forum. I have stage 4 lung cancer (NSCLC). Have undergone 14 months of chemo which stopped in February this year. No idea of prognosis nor have my medical team. Asked AllClear to quote for a 2 week trip to Palm Springs USA. They won’t insure me, and they stopped when premium came to £22,000.00. I contacted BIBA and was advised that if I didn’t have a prognosis then I wouldn’t get a quote from any travel insurance company.

Has anyone experienced this situation?  Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • I have stage 4 breast cancer and got an affordable annual policy from Insurancewith. Their prognosis question on their online form has 3 possible answers - less than 6 months to live, more than 6 months to live, or it hasn’t been discussed. I have never had a discussion about prognosis so it was easy to select the 3rd option.

    I am a Macmillan volunteer.

I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission

  • Hello ,

    I like your name!

You could try Albert & Eddie, a comparison site owned by the same parent company that also owns Insurancewith (recommended by Coddfish) and Holidaysafe that I obtained reasonably priced cover from. I have incurable cancer (see my profile) and as Coddfish says their prognosis question is different from most other insurers.

I hope you can get fixed up.

We're not far from Palm Springs this week, in Twentyninepalms to explore Joshua Tree NP. It's hot in the desert but not al all humid so we find it very pleasant.

I do hope you can get something reasonable sorted.

  • Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll take a look at their website Thumbsup

  • Thank you for your reply. I’ll have a look at that website also. We usually stop in Palm Desert and it’s normally October/November time. Weather is glorious at that time of year. Thumbsup

  • Hope you’re enjoying your 70th birthday celebrations this month

  • Thank you very much, there will indeed be celebrations later this month in Tucson, Arizona where we're catching up with a few locals in our favourite licensed establishment.

We've been to Palm Desert a few times and enjoyed it very much.

  • Hi someone has just mentioned on a closed Facebook group I'm on, a new Travel Insurance Brand called Lighthouse who has a partnership with Macmillan.  https://www.lighthousetravelinsurance.co.uk/in-partnership-with-macmillan  The person who tried them said they were very reasonable, you could access policies from Insurancewith, Holidaysafe, Alpha etc.,

I hope you find something a lot cheaper for your Palm Springs trip.

  • Thanks for telling us this.

Lighthouse is also owned by the same parent company as the insurers I mentioned above. They have been useful for many of our members.
