Good experience with Aviva

I just wanted to report a good experience with Aviva.

So my partner has free travel insurance with the HSBC Premier bank account, it's provided by Aviva. Unlike a lot of free insurances, this insurance is excellent and provides great cover as well as worldwide and family cover, which is where I come in.

I was diagnosed with Bladder cancer in December,  which was removed on 15th January and the tests confirmed it was a G2pTa on the 4th February. I still have 6 weeks a Chemotherapy to complete (no date yet) and am supposed to travel in 8 weeks on a cruise which was booked almost a year pre diagnoses.

So I called Aviva's HSBC helpline yesterday to declare the diagnoses as well as my high blood pressure and diabetes (both non reportable per T&Cs). I had a lot of trepidation and half expected them to slap conditions on the policy, at the very least for any new travel we book from now on.

At the end of the conversation they said my conditions were accepted with no restrictions on current or future trips. They said they will post a letter to me to confirm everything in writing. I was honestly amazed not to have any restrictions imposed at all, I have been dreading the conversation.

I just thought I would report the great way they handled everything if it helps anyone.

  • Hello ,

Thanks very much for letting us know about your favourable experience, isn't it good to hear good results when they happen, especially when you're not expecting it?

I hope you have a great cruise, where in the world are you visiting?

    Derek.
