Travel insurance cruise in USA

Hi everyone

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of this year. I’ve had lumpectomy surgery, chemotherapy and have just finished radiotherapy.

I will be on letrexole for 5 years and have herceptin injection every 3 weeks

I’m going on a cruise in March to USA and have no idea about travel insurance?

I’ve had a quote from All Clear for more than the price of my holiday

Any ideas anyone.

TYI

  • Three things have increased the quote: your health, your destination (USA) and the type of trip (cruise). You could try some of the other companies on Macmillan’s list but a much lower quote may be elusive.

It’s unfortunate you didn’t take out insurance as soon as you booked your trip so that, if they refused cover, you could, at least, have claimed the cost of the cancelled trip.

if you can’t find affordable cover, your best option is to see if they will offer a credit towards a future trip, but do get insurance before rebooking.

  • Hello ,

I have incurable prostate cancer, chemo in 2024 and am on HT treatments indefinitely.

I also had problems with the cost of travel insurance and eventually found albert&eddie (yes, strange name I know) which is a comparison site owned by the same group that owns Insurancewith and Holidaysafe amongst others. I secured annual worldwide cover (didn't need cruise cover but they do it) at a reasonable premium and have just renewed it at virtually the same cost as year 1 which I thought was OK.

You might find this an option, let us know how you get on.

    Derek.
