Hi,

Can someone kindly help me, I am trying to explore quotes online whereby I am cancer free now and have been for the past 2 years and when filling out my travel insurance quotes online the quotes are still high, I also have evidance and letter to prove I am cancer free yet why are some compainies charging so much. Does anyone know of any companies I can speak with for this matter?

  • Unfortunately that's how insurance companies work and it's a source of much anger and frustration to us all. I don't know which type of cancer you've had or the treatment undergone, but for insurance companies the fact you've had it raises concerns that it might recur or you might have some other issue related to it and/or the treatment you've had. The good news, if there is any, is that when you've been cancer free for 5 years the price should return close to normal.

In the meantime I don't know who you've tried already, but if not already I'd suggest you get quotes from albert&eddie online (yes, strange name - it is a comparison site owned by the same group that owns Insurancewith and Holidaysafe). I've had lung cancer (11 years ago) then prostate cancer 9 years ago which recurred early last year when I had chemo and am now on indefinite drug treatment as it's incurable. I was able to get annual worldwide cover for what I considered a reasonable cost and adequate cover for my needs via the above. I found most of the mainstream brands were either not interested or very expensive.

I hope you can obtain what you'r looking for at the right price.

  • Hi, Thank you so much for getting back to me I had gone on the albert and eddie website and got decent quotes from Holiday safe and top dog insurance however when I went on to trust pilot for reviews it looks like when making a claim these companies are not reliable and this is the worry I have going for a cheaper quote yet the service is terrible.

  • I'm also concerned about lower priced cover versus service, especially claims, so when I took my policy out in January 2025 I reviewed the claim related scores on Trustpilot for the previous full year. At the time this showed 90% were rated 4 or 5-star and 10% 1 to 3-star which I thought was reasonable given that customers who have experienced poor service are more likely to leave a poor review than those who have had good service leave a good review.

Fortunately I haven't had the misfortune so far to make a claim so can't speak from personal experience (and hopefully I never will).

Over all review categories Trustpilot currently shows a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

I haven't heard of Top Dog.
