Hi, can anybody recommend travel Insurance companies that will insure you for prostate cancer to  travel to Europe as I  have tried several different companies and been refused every time which is very frustrating as I  feel fine and managing the cancer really well.

Date.

  • I have been struggling to find travel insurance for my holiday to the Maldives in April 2022. I have a terminal diagnosis for Esophageal Cancer for which the original prognosis was 9-12 months back in March 2020. I have been on a clinical trial or immunotherapy for the past year which has kept my cancer stable and I will be on this treatment for another year as long as my cancer stays stable (no reason to think otherwise). Because my cancer is stable I was trying to find an insurer that would exclude my cancer but because my condition is 'terminal' I have been constantly refused insurance by many providers, including those that specialise in cancer insurance - that was until I found Insurancewith.com......I'm amazed! They have quoted me £158.35 to fully cover me including cancer and covid for a 2 week stay in the Maldives!

  • Thanks for the info about Insurancewith.com I  will give them a go hope all goes well with the treatment and enjoy your holiday.

  • Hi

I don’t know about prostrate cancer, but I’ve spent the last week ringing around to get a quote for a one week skiing holiday in Italy in March for my husband who has Stage 3 skin cancer (modular melanoma). It’s taken a long time to get through to all the insurance companies listed on the government list for ‘specialist insurers who cover pre-existing medical conditions’ (often 15-30 minutes on hold to get through).

We’ve had a very mixed response - from a straight decline from StaySure, to sn expensive quote from AllClear, to a very positive experience with Saga and InsureCancer. The quote for a one week holiday ranged from £200 to £764 for those who would quote so definitely worth shopping around.

We also asked for a quote to ski in Canada - which we’ve discounted as it was £2,500!!

So it is worth persevering! We’re going to go with Saga (08009047489) as the range of questions they asked was very comprehensive and they really treated you as a person (InsureCancer were also very good). Good luck!

  • Hi, My husband has prostate cancer with boney secondaries. He had radiotherapy over 12 months ago and chemotherapy just under a year ago. Just on homone injections every 12 weeks now and everything stable. We have just got insured with insurewith. Lots of questions but no problem  We have been quoted £120 saphire policy for 8 days Lanzarote. That quote is with blood pressure and cholesterol medication all covered. Have used this company before and are very reasonable. Good luck

  • Good news  RelaxedWe phoned them too but we’re still waiting a callback! They’re obviously very busy. Great to know they could help your husband - that looks like a brilliant quote.

  • Hi Travel care, im trying to get insurance for my father for a trip to spain in june, he has prostate cancer that has spread to the bones and currently receiving chemotherapy, his cheamo will be completed before we travel, i tried insurewith online but would not give me a quote, did you call them for this price??

  • Hi Wayne, We took the insurance out on line but have spoke to them over the phone in the past and been very helpful. My husbands chemo had been completed 4 months prior to holiday last year. This year it would have been a year since last chemo treatment but still having homone injections and bone infusions. Good luck

  • Hi, my father had his 4th sessionnof chemo last week, doctors have told him 6-10 sessions, he takes the injections also, are you able to tell me who you were speaking too regarding your husbands insurance, i have booked a week to benidorm in june for my father's 75th birthday and also we are going to tenerife for 2 weeks in September and no matter were i try they either wont insure him or looking from £1500 to £3000.

I hope you can help me and hear from you soon.

    TIA

    Wayne

  • Hi Wayne, My husband had 10 sessions 3 weeks apart and completed them all end of March 2021. Sorry I cant remember who I spoke to in customer services last year to update husbands treatment . Its worth a try ringing them as they are very competitive. I wanted to take another policy out for November last year but Insure with were not taking out any new policies so had to use Good to go company  Insureme 4 safeguard costing £374 for 10 days. Have you tried them? Hope you are lucky. Cant beat these sun holidays!
