My husband discovered last November that he had locally advanced prostate cancer. He was fit and healthy and only 58 at the time and was looking forward to retiring in a few years.
I’ve summarised his journey in my profile but enough just to say that at every turn he seemed incredibly unlucky. None of the treatments he’s been given have stopped his canger spreading to his lungs and we appear to have run out of options. 5 weeks ago he was sent home from hospital with weeks or months to live. It’s been so heartbreaking and we are struggling to accept that there are no other options open to us.
A medical friend suggested exploring the Pluvicto trials of Lutecium 177 being carried out by Johan de Bono at the Royal Marsden. We enquired about this tokay with consultant but have been advised that it’s not something they could recommend exploring further because it might shorten my husband’s ligen even further, would be a very costly private treatment and may cause undue pain.
I think we have gone to terms with the fact that there are no further options to explore but I am really struggling with the lack of hope and the ambiguity around how much tI’ve we may have left together. Does anyone else have any advice on how to navigate there weeks and months and how or when to stop looking for other solutions?
