My Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July when she was told to expect months rather than years. She lives alone and although I live in another country I've tried hard to see her every couple of months. She is determined to stay in her own home " until the end". She's reached the point of being very weak on her legs and has had a couple of falls ( we have alarms so she's had help quickly). She has carers come twice a day but I'm thinking she needs more help. I wish I could care for her but wouldn't get paid leave from my job so can't afford to take time off. Has anyone else gone through similar and tell me if we can get more help to allow her to stay at home " until the end".
Hi. Is there any hospice support in her area? We had somerhing called hospice at home for my husband. Or you can usually get carers 4 times a day. If she is self funding she may be eligible for continuing health care if she lives in England or Wales.
Her local authority can do a Care needs assessment if not done already.
Hope you can get more in place for her.
