Im sure this seems crass.
This will probably be Mum's last Christmas, she's living with incurable pancreatic cancer.
It seems dumb to be buying gifts that she might never use, or to carry on as normal... but i really want to gift something super meaningful.
I dont want to be too morose, but has anyone experience of gifting something or receiving a good gift in similar circumstance, for a birthday or other occasion?
Yes, my time & company are a-given.
If i sewed her something to wear... she could wear it now and for the last part of her earthly journey, perhaps?
What do people wear for cremation/burial - is it too morbid to think of this type of gift?
Maybe i mean... is there anything I shouldnt consider...?
I dont know what i mean...
:-(
Hi. Its a tricky one. We were never really present givers in recent years, preferring instead to do something like a nice meal or weekend away. We knd of knew last year would my husband's last ( he died a few weeks ago) . My daughter bought him a book of the newspaper front pages every year on his birthday since his birth and he was really touched by that and enjoyed reading it.
He was cremated in a jumper I had literally bought 3 days before he went. He liked it as it kept him warm. My mom on the other hand was cremated in her favourite outfit that she wore at every opportunity, so it was very much what felt right at the time.
Is here something that will help her during the comng time. My husband really felt the cold, so snugglies, warm wraps etc were beneficial. You know what she is experiencing so what might help her.
I hope you find something. X
