Hi, my father in law has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It came as a huge shock to the whole family but before we could even process the initial diagnosis we’ve been told it’s spread and there’s nothing that can be done.
He’s now coming home from hospital this week with carers and specialist equipment set up at home to spend his last few weeks or months at home! It’s absolutely broken the whole family and none of us know how to deal with this! Grateful that at the moment he still appears to be having good days but it’s just been so unexpected!
Hello
I am really sorry to hear that your father in law has recently been diagnosed with cancer and that it has spread.
I understand that this is a really difficult time for you all. It sounds like the hospital is sorting out the practical arrangements which is good but it is understandable that you don't know how to deal with it all. At the moment it is all perhaps a shock and feels overwhelming.
It is good that he still appears to be having some good days and I hope that this will continue once he is settled back in at home. This link has some information that may be of help.
