Mum.

Went  for her scan results last Friday. Her oncologist  called her in early before I got there ( she doesn't  listen properly  as she doesn't want to know).

She has had this for 5 years 2 hiding it from me and my siblings.

He told her the cancer is now expanding  more into her lungs  and lymphatic  system she has secondary breast cancer. She remembers that and she heard the word chemotherapy only option .

She shut down didn't  hear anything  else she was given description  paperwork  to give to me to read.

I arrived  10 mins before  her appointment  time to find she was in having  bloods taken and she came out stunned.

I ask that the oncologist  ring me later as we have Questions  nothing . He promised to call  me  same day.

I have emailed  nothing.

She has now remembered  the above and is adamant  she will not be having chemotherapy  as she doesn't want to  loose her  hair . Doesn't  want side effects .

My Questions are  what now?

Will they still monitor  her?

If yes how ?

What do we need to look for now if she doesn't have it.?

How quick might she deteriorate ?

She had a appointment  arrived  today so he can find out her decision  but how can we even talk to her  one way or another  if she can't remember what  else he said.

Can anyone help me.

  • I think it would be best if you spoke to the Oncologist or his assistant  first to get all the facts before anyone makes a decision . I can understand where your Mums coming from but it's an awful lot of information to absorb . All the Best Minmax
