Mum given a prognosis of 6 months

Hello

My name is Jordan and my dear mum was given a 6 month prognosis in July of this year.  She has been fighting a carcinomasarcoma of the uterus (womb) since early 2022 (she had surgery and chemotherapy and then targeted therapy with immunotherapy).  I'm finding it hard to know what to say now, because she keeps saying she wishes she could die now since she's in discomfort and is getting more tired.  I try just to acknowledge how she is feeling but any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received.

  • Jordan I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through with your mum. I do understand and am going through similar with my mum also. All you can do is be there for her and keep doing what your doing. Your mum should not have to be in pain so if you haven’t speak with the GP about palliative care they assist with treatment and medication they may be able to help with taking the edge off the pain for her. Thinking of you through this difficult time. You are doing an amazing job by just been there for her x

    Get your local palliative team on board to help her with her pain. It seems some are amazing and others not. But demand their help. It is invaluable.

    Thanks so much for you message.  Mum has got a lovely palliative care nurse and she/ the team are trying different things with her pain management.  However, as yet we can't seem to relieve her tenesmus discomfort.  I've had a look in the relevant cancer forum on here and will see if I can get any tips from there.  Thanks again for taking the time to reply and thinking of you too.  Much love, Jordan x
