My granny passed away last night and it was the most peaceful and comforting moment. After two short months of living with an aggressive cancer she finally passed away and I am not overwhelmed with sadness.
Up until Saturday there had been no real suffering, she wasn’t in any pain and even from Saturday onwards the only really upsetting thing was that she was confused but she still knew us.
We finally got her home on Wednesday morning from hospital after a short stay there due to low oxygen levels and when she came home she just relaxed and let her body go. We had a busy day yesterday with everybody coming to say bye to her which is what she would have wanted everybody sat round her having a cup of tea and talking to her and then in the evening my mum and I asked for a priest to come and give her, her last rites and within ten minutes of him leaving she had gone. We held her hand and talked her though it and it was very calm and peaceful. She kept all of her dignity and it was everything she would have wanted when it came too it.
I know everybody’s experiences are different but I hope some people can take comfort in knowing that when the time comes it can be very peaceful x
That is a sad but a lovely story. Sounds like your gran had a lovely send off..as she deserved. It gives us all hope that our tales of stress and worry at the moment may end peacefully. I hope so. Sending love to you all .. xxx
