So today we have 2nd appt with oncologist to ask questions re palliative chemo which is booked to start Monday. I hope my husband decides not to have it as he is in poor shape with parkinsons not properly controlled by meds, deteriorates and at risk of delerium if hospitalised and would lose the last few things he gets pleasure out of, be unwell and with no guarantee the benefits outweigh the risks.
He has suffered so much already.
Anyone on here have parkinsons as well as terminal cancer ?
Anyone on gemcitabine and carboplatin ?
Breaks my heart to witness this big strong man go through this
Hi Cat1853
Hope the appointment went as well as can be expected. With my wife I faced the dilemma when the oncologist said her cancer did not often respond to chemotherapy early on but then offered some.
It is a challenge of any chemotherapy trying to work our the benefits/risk and of course there may well be other ways of providing palliative care.
Sorry cannot help with your most direct questions because that is not part of our journey, but the heartbreak I can emphasise with.
<<hugs>>
Steve
