Hi there, was just looking to see if anyones loved ones had just in case meds? & if so have they used Alfentanil? The nurse recommended it for my mum yesterday but she’s not in a lot of pain! I would say more discomfort with sitting /lying in the same position all the time & her flem not being able to be coughed up that’s annoying her breathing! She said it could help with that too? Just looking to see if anyone has any experience with this & will it make her feel a bit better?
thsnks in advance
Hi,
Pain can present as discomfort in a chronic kind of way and should be treated at your mums stage.
She might be moving about the chair/bed or become restless or agitated. When my dad was in the last few weeks he was given it for breakthrough pain. It works fast and helped with the anxiety of breathlessness. That can be frightening. It was just dissolved on the gum inside the cheek.
I hope you are getting some rest and support with caring for your mum. Xx
